{"id":1333,"date":"2015-07-05T17:21:27","date_gmt":"2015-07-05T21:21:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.afterhoursva.com\/?p=1333"},"modified":"2015-07-05T18:51:18","modified_gmt":"2015-07-05T22:51:18","slug":"e-notarization-coming-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.afterhoursva.com\/?p=1333","title":{"rendered":"E-Notarization Coming Soon!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"  wp-image-1334 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.afterhoursva.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/ENotarizationServices-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"ENotarizationServices\" width=\"355\" height=\"355\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;m excited to announce that @AfterHoursVA will now offer e-notarization to the list of services currently being offered!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I was recently commissioned as an E-Notary for the Commonwealth of Virginia and can&#8217;t wait to perform my first remote notarization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What is an E-Notary?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">An eNotary is a Notary Public who notarizes documents electronically.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What is electronic notarization (e-notarization)?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Electronic notarization is a process whereby a notary affixes and electronic notary signature and seal information to an electronic document (such as a PDF or Word document). \u00a0Once affixed to the electronic document, the document is rendered tamper evident such that unauthorized attempts to alter the document will be evident to relying parties. \u00a0The Electronic Notary also must keep an electronic register of each act performed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What is the difference between an electronic notarization and current pen and paper notarization?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The only real difference is the tool used to perform the notarial act. In a traditional paper notarization, a pen and a rubber stamp are the tools of the notary\u2019s trade. \u00a0For an electronic notarization, the notary must use a computer and appropriate computer software and\/or hardware.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Generally speaking all other steps and procedures of notarization remain the same. \u00a0The signer appears before the notary to request a notarization, and the notary identifies the signer, completes a notarial certificate and affixes the electronic notary signature and seal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">While the signer must still appear personally before an Electronic Notary, beginning July 1, 2012, an approved Virginia Electronic Notary may perform acts online using audio-video conference technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Questions and answers provided by Virginia SOS office: <a href=\"https:\/\/commonwealth.virginia.gov\/official-documents\/notary-commissions\/.\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/commonwealth.virginia.gov\/official-documents\/notary-commissions\/.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>For more information regarding e-notary services, email info@AfterHoursVA.com.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m excited to announce that @AfterHoursVA will now offer e-notarization to the list of services currently being offered!
